Volvo is a Swedish luxury car manufacturer offering the highest standard of comfort, modern innovation, safety, and electrification across other car brands. However, even with Volvo's high vehicle standards, Volvos are surprisingly more affordable to maintain than other luxury brands and we'll tell you why...

What is the average Volvo maintenance cost?
The average annual maintenance cost for a Volvo is around $769, compared to $652, the annual average repair cost of all other models – but the Volvo maintenance cost is surprisingly affordable to maintain when compared with other luxury brands. Over a ten-year period of ownership, Volvo models will only cost an average of $100 more to maintain than Audi models and are cheaper to maintain than other luxury brands including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Cadillac. In a study listing the top twenty vehicle models that are the most expensive to maintain, not a single Volvo model made the list.

Do Volvos need a lot of repairs or maintenance?
Volvos are well-made, reliable vehicles and with Volvo's Customer Lifetime Parts Warranty, repairs carried out on your Volvo will be covered for defects in material or workmanship for as long as you own the car. Volvo Cars warrants that all parts installed at an authorized Volvo workshop will be free from defects in material or workmanship and the coverage includes the labor to replace the covered replacement part. A recent study concluded that Volvo models were brought in for repair about 0.5 times per year and of those cases, only 9% were considered in severe condition. Other vehicles average needing repairs about 0.4 times a year, with 12% of cases being considered severe. Even though Volvo’s maintenance costs can be more expensive, Volvos are durable vehicles that do not often need repairs.

How to keep your car maintenance costs down.
Taking your Volvo in for routine maintenance (like getting your oil changed every 3-5k miles and checking your fluids and tire pressure) can keep your vehicle running well and keep yearly maintenance costs down (ultimately saving you time and money). You can also check your tire pressure, oil levels and air filters, inspect fluids, and examine your belts and hoses for cracks and bulges at home and bring any car issues up to your dealership at your next vehicle maintenance check.
